Day 1: Arrival in Xi’an and Journey to Mount Huashan (Shaanxi)
Arrive in the ancient city of Xi’an and transfer to Huayin, the gateway to Mount Huashan. Known for its sheer cliffs and narrow ridges, this Taoist mountain offers eco-marked trails and dramatic views. Begin with a light hike to the base temple and stay in a mountain eco-hotel.
Day 2: Sunrise Trek on Huashan’s East Peak
Start early to hike to the East Peak, famous for its stunning sunrise views. Explore the mountain’s interconnected peaks via plank walkways and quiet stair trails. Descend by foot or take the eco-friendly cable car down. In the evening, return to Xi’an for a rest and local vegetarian cuisine.
Day 3: Travel to Sichuan and Settle at Mount Emei
Take a high-speed train or flight to Leshan, Sichuan Province. Transfer to Mount Emei, one of China's Four Sacred Buddhist Mountains. Check in at a local monastery guesthouse or eco-lodge at the mountain’s base. Explore nearby temples before nightfall.
Day 4: Hike Through Forest Temples to Golden Summit
Begin your ascent through ancient pine forests and temples, passing wild monkeys along the way. Overnight at a guesthouse mid-way up the mountain. The hike is peaceful and meditative, with signs promoting minimal impact travel and waste-free trekking.
Day 5: Reach Emei’s Golden Summit and Descend
Climb to the Golden Summit (Jinding) early to witness panoramic cloud sea views and the golden statue of Samantabhadra. After a rest, descend via a different route or eco-shuttle to take in new landscapes. Enjoy a relaxing evening in a mountain village.
Day 6: Travel to Mount Heng (Hunan) for a Final Sacred Hike
Fly or take a train to Hengshan (Hunan) — a Taoist mountain famed for its ancient pines and mist-covered cliffs. Hike part of the peaceful Zhurong Trail, a less-touristed path dotted with serene shrines. Overnight in a locally-run eco-inn.
Day 7: Morning Hike and Return Journey
Enjoy a gentle morning hike to Zhurong Peak and visit nearby meditation caves. Reflect on your journey before departing for nearby Changsha or returning to Xi’an or Chengdu for onward travel.
